We have a simple choice between sedentary aging that involves a myraid of negative effects resulting from inactivity, or active aging in which can maintain a high quality of life and functionality well into our elderly years.
Fit55 classes focus on improving range of movement, stability and balance, strength, bone density, and cardiovascular health with combined elements of cardio, strength, gymnastic, agility, balance, and more. Whether you consider yourself as active or inactive, the training will be accommodated to your ability, you will be challenged appropriately, and best of all you get to train alongside a community of supportive peers.
Fit55 classes run on Monday and Wednesday. All ages welcome. Don't worry, we don't check I.D.s at the door.
WHAT DOES A CLASS LOOK LIKE?
RAISE & ACTIVATE
Our warm-ups are more than the typical run, row or cycle for 5-10 minutes. We'll use the functional movements and dynamic stretches to raise your core temperature, improve range of movement, and get your muscles activated for the session ahead.
PRACTICE & TRAINING
Every day is different, with some days focusing on new skills and others on improving strength. Skill sessions aim to improve balance, coordination, accuracy and flexibility, while strength training will develop bone density, joint integrity and muscular strength.
We use a creative mix of weightlifting, bodyweight and cardio movements to improve endurance, stamina, and burn some calories. Every workout is scaled to suit your current ability so you receive the appropriate intensity level.
